Overview

It is largely its industrialization that explains the extraordinary expansion of Barcelona that will begin in the second half of the 19th century. It is especially in the northern part of the city, in the district of Sant Marti and that of Poblenou that the factories were. From the end of the 20th century, here as in many other Western countries, relocations will gradually cause the deindustrialization of the city.
Today, on the site of what was once known as the Catalan Manchester, the most avant-garde and futuristic Barcelona is budding.
Closer to home, on October 17, 1986, the selection of Barcelona as host city for the 1992 Olympic Games was announced; it was the start of a colossal urban transformation.
Come and discover the futuristic "Poblenou" by bike with us, but also its oldest part, the Olympic village, the seafront... A visit off the beaten track that will not fail to seduce you.
