Overview

Visit the fascinating Montserrat Natural Park and Monastery. After admiring the 360° amazing views from the St Miquel's Cross, we will imagine which animals and characters the rounded rocks resemble. We will enjoy a walk through the Mediterranean vegetation characterized by dense oak tree forest, boxwood bushes, and aromatic plants growing in the open meadows. We will tickle our sense of smell with wild rosemary, thyme, and lavender growing freely along the path and, if we are lucky, spot the iconic wild goat of Montserrat confidently walking on steep edges. We will observe other animal tracks and signs of local fauna. Seasonal fruit will be provided to all participants at Pla de Tarántulas. From Pla de Tarántuals, we will take a mountain trail and cross a small creek as we gently descend through the main valley back to the Monastery. Here we will visit the church with Saint Mary and taste some locally produced cheeses and fig bread.

Hike to our first viewpoint - the Saint Miquel's Cross, and enjoy the spectacular views of the Monastery, the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. Discover a mountain trail passing by the chapel Saint Anna surrounded by dense boxwood bushes with wild boar tracks and signs where they feed on seeds and young plants.

Admire the Monastery & Saint Virgin Mary. We will enter the church to admire the impressive architecture. In the end, we will visit the farmers' market and taste some delicious locally produced cheese, honey, and fig bread.

Great Hike at Monserrat

We booked a tour with world adventure and it did not disappoint, Stepan picked us up right on time in the centre of Barcelona and the bonus point is there were only two of us hiking with Stepan that day it became our private tour somehow.

Stepan explained thoroughly what kind of route options and what to expect and let us tailored our own hiking experience, along the way he explained to us the history of Montserrat, and introduced us the herbs and plants along the way, it was an really fun and interesting experience hiking with Stepan. He even told us the amusing Catalan Christmas's tradition of Caga Tió, and we were able to spot one the same night in the city.

Highly recommend to book a tour with world adventure for the hike in Montserrat, you would not regret it !

All respect for Stepan, who does a great job there - a true sample of excellent tour host!

The tour more than met our expectations. Pick up right on time, lots of informed commentary. It is not often that you get so much nature and history in one trip, overall this was the perfect mix.

Stepan took us around Montserrat and the mountains showing a complete understanding of challenging history of Catalonia. He had plenty of options and let us choose how we spent the day and how strenuous it would be.

Definitely a highlight of our trip. A “must do” tour! :)
